Abstract: This paper describes the architecture of a system for robotized assembly. The most peculiar feature of the system is its flexibility in cell designing and robot programming. The design of a modular cell is described, where it is possible to execute a defined class of operations. A graphic simulation environment is employed for off line programming. Set-up and mating operations are off line programmed and automatically executed by the robot. The application of the system to the assembly of an industrial product is presented.
